Performance opportunities as a large Concert Band (daytime and evening), instrument workshops, music festivals, and tours. Students will also explore basic theory and history, as well as basic conducting techniques in class. Students will develop the skills to critique as both a consumer and performer of music, and apply the skills and knowledge learned to the preparation and performance of instrumental music repertoire.
Concert band rehearses all year during C block. Grade 10 & 11 students will have an online course that alternates days with concert band, and grade 12 students have the option to take a spare on non-rehearsal days.
A continuation of concert band, the symphonic band is an auditioned group that rehearses once a week during lunch. Students in symphonic band will perform more challenging repertoire with an expectation that it is fully learned and practiced at home prior to rehearsals. Students in symphonic band must also be enrolled in concert band.
Entrance by audition.
The jazz ensemble is an extension of Instrumental Music 10/20/30 (concert band), and students must also be enrolment in concert band. For students looking for an extra challenge or a space to be very creative then Jazz is for you. Jazz ensemble participates in concerts, Jazz nights, festivals and other performance opportunities.

An auditioned treble choir (SSA or SSAA) for advanced singers focusing on vocal performance with an emphasis on choral or group singing. Opportunities for vocal ensemble students include school and community concerts, performing at grad, vocal workshops and clinics, local and provincial festivals, and international festivals. Vocal students will also be instructed in basic theory, history, composition, and conducting techniques. Students will apply skills and knowledge learned to the preparation and performance of vocal music repertoire. Students will be required to be present during evening and weekend performances.
Is open to ANY student who wants to learn more about music. This can be beginning guitar/ukulele or any instrument you already have experience on. This can include piano, wind instruments, voice, drums … pretty much anything! Also includes history of western music, including pop, rock and the blues, as well as introductory recording.
A mixed voice (SAB or SATB) choir for all students of any vocal proficiency focusing on vocal performance with an emphasis on choral or group singing. Opportunities for choral students include a festival and year end concert, performing at grad, vocal workshops and clinics, and music festivals. Choral students will also be instructed in basic theory, history, composition, and conducting techniques. Students will apply skills and knowledge learned to the preparation and performance of vocal music repertoire. Students will be required to be present during evening performances.
Rehearsals are Wednesday at lunch.
